    Second 8200 Accelerator Seeks To Solve Social Problems Through Entrepreneurship 

    8200June 17, 2014 | The chairman of alumni for elite intelligence unit 8200, Nir Lempert has plans to launch a second accelerator program, this time with the goal of solving social problems through entrepreneurship. According to a report in “Globes,” Lempert, who is also the CEO of Zap Group, hopes to hold the first courses for socially-aware entrepreneurs this coming October. The goal of the accelerator program is to use technological means in order to solve social problems, and the course hopes to provide entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge to do so. This is the second accelerator program founded by alumni of the 8200 unit, with the first founded by Roy Goldenberg and called EISP 8200.

    Israeli Office OF The Chief Scientist Selects Best Startups Of 2012 

    Israeli Office OF The Chief Scientist Selects Best Startups Of 2012Three incubator graduates were chosen by the Israeli Chief Scientist’s Office (OCS) as the best startups of 2012. Two of the winners belong to incubators of the TrendLines Group. The OCS also named TheTime as the best incubator in Israel.

    The winners are Sol-Chip, a company developing technology that enables embedding solar panels into microchips, ApiFix, which developed a minimally invasive treatment for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) and CartiHeal, which developed a technology for regenerating hyaline cartilage.

    Sol-Chip is part of the Mofet Venture Incubator and ApiFix is a graduate of Misgav Venture Incubator, both part of the TrendLines Group. CartiHeal is a graduate of Elron Electronic Industries’ incubator.

    IDC Elevator Raises $10M From Chinese Investors 

    IDC Elevator Raises $10M From Chinese InvestorsIsraeli accelerator program IDC Elevator, founded by Uri Glazer and Tom Bronfeld, has completed a successful funding round, raising $10 million. TheMarker reports that the sum was raised from private Chinese investors and financial institutions in China.

    The new fund will be directed towards $250,000 seed investments in 20 companies over the course of a year.

    MassChallenge Accelerator Sets Up Shop In IsraelAmerican accelerator program MassChallenge is setting up shop in Israel. The accelerator, which was founded in Boston in 2010, is a nonprofit organization supported by Kraft, Verizon, Fidelity Investments, Microsoft, 3M and private investors such as Red Sox owner John Henry. Three Israeli companies have participated in the program in the past: DriveWay, Joytunes and STU.
