    Generex To Aqurie Controlling Share In Israeli Biotech Firm 

    generexOctober 14, 2015 | Israeli bio-medical company Meditemp has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent with Generex Biotechnology, which according to the letter, could acquire a 51% equity interest in MediTemp in exchange for a purchase price of $5 million. Founded in 2007, MediTemp has developed a proprietary cooling technology designed to improve sperm quality in men rendered infertile due to varicoceles, a condition characterized by enlarged veins (varicose) within the scrotum. The company’s solution is called Varicure, a wearable, compact, portable and comfortable device that facilitates localized cooling of the testicles with the aim of enhancing male fertility by improving sperm quality.

    Medgenics Raises $46M In Secondary NYSE Offering 

    medgenicsOctober 14, 2015 | Israeli bio-medical company, Medgenics closed its secondary share offering, raising $46 million. The Galilee-based company opted to issue more shares after its share price climbed over 50% between January and September of this year. Currently, the company’s market capitalization is $236 million. Founded in 2000 and led by CEO Michael Cola, Medgenics is developing a technology platform called TARGT that will help to treat patients with rare and orphan diseases.

    Pfizer Invests $10M In Protalix, Pays $36M For Commercial Rights 

    PfizerOctober 14, 2015 | Pharma giant Pfizer has invested $10 million in the Israeli bio-medical company Protalix Biotherapeutics in exchange for a six percent share in the Karmiel-based company.
    Protalix has also given Pfizer full commercial rights to the Gaucher disease treatment Elelyso in all countries except Brazil in exchange for $36 million cash. Since the companies’ first strategic agreement six years ago, Protalix has replaced its management and changed its business strategy, now lead by new CEO Moshe Manor. The company was founded in 1993 by biochemist Yoseph Shaaltiel, who developed the principle plant-based enzyme used in Elelyso.

    FDA Approves Medinol’s PioNIR Plus Atent 

    medinolMedinol has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to sell its PioNIR Plus stent. This is on the basis of the results of a comprehensive trial of the product that was completed a year ago. The PioNIR Plus stent, also sold under the name Presillion Plus, is a stent developed by Medinol for coronary arteries. It is of the ‘bare metal’ type, meaning the stents are not coated with medication.
